Remembering 9-11-01. An incredible pause in all our lives. So much hate and so much love.
I shared this yesterday, and the response was so strong, I wanted to post here, as well.
One day an old Native American grandfather was talking to his grandson. He said, “There are two wolves fighting inside all of us – the wolf of fear and hate, and the wolf of love and peace.”
The grandson listened, then looked up at his grandfather and asked, “Which one will win?”
The grandfather replied, “The one we feed.”
Let us always remember; and let us choose to turn our energies and our hearts where they can be of most benefit and contribution to a peaceful world.
Hello Kristin,
I spent most of Sunday working on a Habitat for Humanity project, painting a house in south Dallas. What an amazingly rewarding experience! Just to pitch in and work with 20 or so other volunteers to fix up a house in a needy neighborhood. The neighbors came out, starting cleaning up their yards and wanting to know how they could get their houses fixed up.
Sunday evening I went to a Remembrance and Reconciliation service at Saint Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church. The Arts District Chorale with orchestra and soloists performed the music of Aaron Copeland, Samuel Barber, David Conte, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Narrations from the holy books of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam were read by The Rev. Dr. Bob Dannals, Rector of Saint Michael and All Angels, Rabbi Debra Robbins of Temple Emanu-El, and Imam Dr. Yusuf Kavakci of the Islamic Association of North Texas.
All in all, a day well spent and I certainly was spent at the end of the day.
Cheers,
Jack
