How do we show care?

I read this little story about Tony Bennett, one of my favorite performers, over the weekend and it touched me. I thought it might be a great way to start our week:

Tony says: ” I was going through a divorce and my personal life was a mess … My friend, Duke Ellington, who happened to be in town for a concert, had heard I was alone … I opened the door to find one of the greatest surprises of my life: there was a choir singing, “On A Clear Day You Can See Forever”… For years this kindness from Duke lifted up my whole life. It showed me that no matter how bad things seem, there are always people in this world who care about others. That revelation changed my life.”

This week, let’s make it a goal to show care and compassion to each person that crosses our path.

This week, let’s make it a goal to perform one anonymous nicety for another…a neighbor, a co-worker, someone in the parking lot, the grocery store, the line at the bank, etc.

This week, let’s send an email or card to someone we have lost track of lately – to let them know we are thinking of them. One thing I know for sure, when we give to others – it takes the focus off ourselves, and the joys are boundless. Let’s see what kind of creative caring we can show folks that cross our paths this week. And I would love to hear what you experience!
