What is it about this time of year? Hearts are mostly happy. Spirits are mostly full. Love is overflowing. As we begin this week leading to Christmas, let us be fully aware of this incredible energy which is everywhere – from the Salvation Army bell ringers at the grocery to the waiters at your local spirit-serving pub. What better person to quote than Charles Dickens who sums our collective opportunity to embrace the spirit of love this season?
“I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.”
